    About Tombstone and the area:

Tombstone is located in the high desert of Southeastern Arizona. With an elevation of close to 4600 feet we actually have the wonderful experience of all 4 seasons!! The average temperatures in the summer months are in the low 90's and winter temps are generally quite mild and pleasant with perhaps an occasional snow fall that is beautiful to look at but gone by the next day!!

    Tombstone Attractions:

Spend some time in the National Historic Landmark of Tombstone Arizona and visit famous Allen Street. Walk where they walked and feel the history of this Wild West Town. Take a stagecoach ride or trolley ride and learn the history of the people and the buildings of this old mining camp. Visit the many museums and step back in time to when the west was wild and the people were too! Witness a gunfight, historic or comedy and relive the days when the gunfighter took charge! Go under ground and walk where Tombstone's founder, Ed Schieffelin walked and take a tour of a silver mine. And don't forget to pay your respects at historic Boothill Cemetery where legends are laid to rest and their epitaphs are words from a time gone by. Tombstone Arizona Information

Tombstone offers the atmosphere of the Old West. Walk the wooden boardwalks and hear the clink clink clink of the cowboy's spurs as they saunter along their way. Watch the horses of the stagecoach transport people back in time. Part the bat-winged doors of the saloon and be served by the charmingly dressed saloon girl. And you can even dress the part yourself if you so desire as some shops in Tombstone offer the opportunity to rent your costume and become part of the legend.

And speaking of shopping - whether you are searching for that special memento or souvenir or are on the quest for antiques or southwestern jewelry - Tombstone has it all!

Your stay in Tombstone can also include many opportunities to tour Southern Arizona and Cochise County.

Don't want to do the driving? Into the West Jeep Tours will pick you up at the Dragoon Vista Tombstone Vacation Home and take you back in time. Just to mention a few places your tour can include a trip out to the legendary Johnny Ringo's grave site, the ghost towns of Gleeson, Courtland and Pearce, and the not to be missed Rattlesnake Crafts where you not only will find what the name implies but also a collection of immense proportions that can only be viewed to be understood.

The scenic beauty of Southern Arizona ranges from the fabulous Chiricahua National Monument that is comparable to the Grand Canyon (a short hour and half drive from Tombstone) to the underground grotto of Kartchner Caverns (about half an hour's drive from Tombstone). There are scenic nature walks in the Huachuca Mountains 25 miles south of Tombstone to enjoy and you can even learn the history of the Buffalo Soldier at the three Fort Huachuca Museums. The Amerind Foundation offers a view of the early Native American dwellers of the desert with an incredible archeological museum and is just a 45-minute drive from your home base. Cowboy history abounds in nearby Willcox (1 hour's drive) where you can learn more about Arizona's singing cowboy, Rex Allen at the Rex Allen Museum on historic Rail Road Avenue. Bisbee is a must see and just a half hour's drive from Tombstone. Here you find an eclectic mix of antique stores, art galleries and mining museums all with an old Victorian charm. Looking to cross the border? The large border town of Nogales 70 miles south offers a unique opportunity to step across the Mexican/American border and experience the adventure of haggling over prices for that prized piece of pottery, leather or other Mexican treasure. And just an hour's drive or so from Tombstone, Tucson offers the Sonoran Desert Museum, the Pima Air Museum and Old Tucson Studios where many old western movies and TV shows were filmed.

Tombstone does not have a shopping mall, a large grocery store, a movie theater and all the other amenities larger cities offer, but Sierra Vista is just 16 miles away and you can find a Wal*Mart, Target, K-Mart and 3 major grocery stores.
